CASE STUDY

As part of an NZQA unit on Potions by Dr Brian Murray, he asked for repertorising and prescription for a hypothetical patient, using the Christchurch Flower Essences.

Request for Hypothetical Case Study

"Gail was 52 and experiencing the mood and physical changes of menopause. She had recently buried her elder sister who had died of renal failure and was worried because her younger sister also had serious kidney problems. Gail herself was troubled by frequent, small urinations that burned and had a strong odour. Her periods were erratic, very painful and profuse. The headaches were unbearable and lasted for days before and after the menses. She had an outbreak of psoriasis on her arms and legs that itched, further aggravating the difficulty she had been having lately sleeping. She ate a lot of take-away food and she and her children (those who were still at home) had an obesity problem, poor skin tone and erratic bowel motions.

"Recently Gail had been waking abruptly out of sleep to find she had been crying, sometimes having wet the bed with both urine and tears, but never with any dream recall. Now estranged from her second husband, Gail was afraid to allow a new friendship with an old flame to develop. She was lonely and distressed with the effort of bringing up her children from the two failed marriages, but could not face going through her previous experiences again. As a child she had been molested by her father and uncle, resulting in low self-esteem. She did poorly at school and did not achieve at sport or socially. Her first marriage was forced on her by an unplanned pregnancy, the man abandoning her and the baby soon after the birth. Her second marriage was little better, with drunken demands being made on her for sex however ill she felt. She confided that, at times, suicide seemed to be the only way out of all her miseries."

Hypothetical Case Study Response

Gail, Aged 52
using Essences of the Light House®

A: USING CHRISTCHURCH BLENDED ESSENCES

For Immediate Relief

For relief from symptoms at the start, and any time she needs extra help, I would recommend Relief Flowers (BE10), a synergistic blend of "animal" flower essences:

For further treatment

As she goes through her healing processes, she may benefit from a series of Blended Essences.

The Blended Essences given would depend on what is appropriate at the time, but a suggested sequence of Blended Essences would be as follows:

Balance Essence (BE2)
Energy Essence (BE3)
Guidance Essence (BE5)
Harmony Essence (BE6)
Openness Essence (BE9)
Transformation Essence (BE11)
Truth Essence (BE12)

B: USING CHRISTCHURCH FLOWER ESSENCES — SPRING AND SUMMER FLOWERS

For Immediate Relief

For relief from symptoms at the start, and any time she needs extra help, I would recommend Relief Flowers (BE10), a synergistic blend of "animal" flower essences.

Physical ease

In the near future I would recommend:

Several of these essences are also part of the Bach Flower Rescue Remedy, although they have a wider range of indications in Essences of The Light House®.

Emotional flow

When the initial upset is beginning to settle down, and she is starting to look at deeper issues, I would recommend:

Mental fluidity

If she is wanting more awareness of her problems I would recommend:

Spiritual growth

If then she wants to work on her true purpose, I would recommend:

Please note that in these recommendations only the keywords for the flower essences are given. The full indications give more information about the essence of each of the flowers.

C: OTHER TREATMENTS

Body Work

Body work of any kind is useful, and can help to ground the changes that are made.

Homeobotanicals

Homeobotanicals and flower essences work well together.

Individual practitioners would choose different combinations of homeobotanicals, but my choice would be a mixture of Homeobotanicals E, F, K and M.

Flower Essences

Christchurch Flower Essences are flexible in their use, and can be used with other systems of flower essences. There are no definite guidelines as to how many essences can be used at the same time, or on the duration of treatment. This can be according to the intuition of the practitioner, and of the client.

Homeopathy

My preference is to work with homeopathy alongside homeobotanicals and flower essences, but of course this is not necessary.

I think that with today's energies, and with mankind's growth in consciousness, it is no longer appropriate to insist on a limited use of classical homeopathy, unless of course that is how the individual practitioner is guided.

Orthodox Medicine

I think that conventional medical treatment also has its place, and is sometimes needed to help alongside body work, homeobotanicals, flower essences and homeopathy.

I believe that Spirit works through a wide range of treatment modalities.
